The crux of imagination is that not all ideas must be fully realized. For this reason, I regard inspiration as both an opportunity and a challenge. Living in a rural landscape has convinced me that the natural world is enchanting and ornamental enough. Working in this environment has taught me to align my priorities with nature and proceed in a deliberate yet cautious manner. With my hands and basic tools, I carve my own path through the creative process using methods that are self-taught, time-proven and unapologetically analog. I sparingly and strategically utilize electrical and technological resources, remaining focused on an indelibly human aesthetic. Paper is my preferred medium for its wide array of applications and its inate ability to complete the transformation cycle. From humble beginnings to sublime design, it fulfills the artistic metamorphosis with remarkable ease, surprising strength and uncommon beauty. Interacting with organic materials on a daily basis is a sensory excursion which informs me of their possibilities and limitations. My work presents alternative ideas and concepts which focus on the virtues of human skill and creativity, in collaboration with nature.

Creating works which defy paper's typical parameters, is not only about fulfilling an artistic expression, but also about challenging the common perception of the material itself. For hundreds of years, Kurotani Washi paper has graced Japanese interiors with both artistic and practical elements. Made from the cellulose of mulberry bushes, it has a refined tactility, a natural beauty and an unexpected durability. Capturing both the shape and spirit of time-formed remains, FOSSIL jewelry is a special collaboration with Hatano Wataru, featuring his Kurotani Washi paper. Discovered within an imagined earthen tapestry, FOSSIL jewelry pieces merge the realms of art piece and artifact. From the making of the paper in Japan to the design and construction in Austria, this unique fusion balances human skill with the strength and beauty of nature. Our uncompromising approach to sustainability means we produce a limited series of truly distinctive pieces from an entirely analog, no-waste process, exclusively using hand working methods and the highest quality natural materials.
