Designer biography:

Alis Lalu is a Romanian new wave jewelry artist, based in Bucharest. Her brand, Alis Lalu Jewelry, born in 2011, creates one-of-a-kind or limited edition premium contemporary jewelry. She was born in 1982 in Constanta. As says her profession, she is an economist, but jewelry had fascinated her since childhood, so, in January 2011 she followed the classes of Assamblage Contemporary Jewelry School, under the guidance of David Sandu, jewelry designer. Soon after discovering contemporary jewelry she started her own workshop. A couple of months later, gave up her corporate career in order to pursue her older passion, to which now she is totally dedicated. Since then, she perfected her jewelry techniques by participating in courses in Alchimia jewelry school in Florence, Italy, became a teacher within Assamblage Jewelry School, attended numerous jewelry exhibitions in Romania and abroad and won several jewelry awards. Courtesy of her last award, she was selected to exhibit her work in Milano Jewelry Week 2022. Every piece that she creates has it’s own story, with intricate details, and a special attention to craftsmanship. In her jewelry, Alis Lalu uses materials such as gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones, but also alternative mediums as iron, pigment and resin. Alis Lalu creates jewelry for those who see in jewelry more than an accessory, but rather a way of expressing themselves.

Collection concept:

Strata Collection: Beauty in the Fracture

Beneath the calm, structured surface of our world lies an immense, untamed energy. Strata Collection is a study of tectonic forces, capturing the exact moment where pressure becomes art. I chose sterling silver and ebony wood because they feel solid, controlled. I worked the surfaces with fine lines to echo sediment layers and topographic maps — something quiet, almost ordered. But it is in the rupture where the true story is told. A jagged fault line tears through the center of each piece, revealing a striking pulse of red pigment. It is a glimpse of the molten core beneath, a reminder that it’s not meant to look perfect. It’s meant to feel real. Wear it as a testament to your own hidden depths and the quiet power of shifting foundations.
