Designer biography:
I am a jewellery artist currently pursuing a Research MA in Design Studies at China University of Geosciences, where I ranked among the top students. With over seven years of training, my practice has evolved from technical mastery to an exploration of how material and context shape expression. My work has been exhibited internationally, including The Most Beautiful Jewellery 2.0 at JCC International Contemporary Jewellery Center, and the National Exhibition of Contemporary Craft & Art Works Tour in China. I have received awards such as the Silver Prize at the ICAD International Contemporary Youth Art & Design Competition and the Blue & White Award at the National Ceramic Jewellery Design Exhibition. Working across metal, ceramics, and mixed media, I approach jewellery as a medium through which perception, experience, and cultural narratives can be translated into form. For me, making is a way of thinking. I focus on how materials react, resist, and transform through process. I see metal not as a fixed substance but as something responsive to force, time, and handling. By working closely with material behaviour, I allow outcomes to emerge through process rather than predetermined design. Since 2023, my practice has been further developed through field engagement in Jingdezhen, China. Working within local ceramic production contexts, I examined the contrast between the fragility of clay and the resistance of metal, leading me to adopt a more process-led approach. Through testing and material interaction, form is generated through making rather than imposed in advance. My work explores the relationship between material, body, and environment, using jewellery as a means to engage with perception, movement, and time through sustained experimentation and making.
Collection concept:
Sometimes when life feels overwhelming, I find solace in nature—staring at the full moon at night, sweeping autumn leaves, or observing the ebb and flow of the sea.Nature offers an extreme form of romance.This project is inspired by the forms of nature and the sense of peace it brings.I draw from traces left by natural rhythms—the pulse of life, the cycles of the moon, the ebb and flow of tides, and the changing of the seasons—seeking to capture a sense of slow growth and continuous accumulation. I attempt to perceive the flow of time within the act of making—through repeated hand-sculpting and the layering of materials, through accumulation, repetition, form, and a sense of order. In this process, I observe both mind and action.Following the way of nature, all things exist in an eternal state of flow. In this project, creation itself becomes a way of approaching nature. Through tactile layering and the accumulation of time, I seek to offer a quiet hymn to the natural world.
