Juan Yin - UK/China
Juan Yin
Designer biography:
Juan Yin is the designer and founder of Formed Between, a jewellery practice centred on silver and traditional craft techniques. Her work is informed by historical Chinese silversmithing and ornamental traditions, translating these references into contemporary wearable forms. Working primarily with high-purity silver, each piece is developed through small-scale production processes that emphasise surface, structure and proportion. Through Formed Between, she explores how traditional craft knowledge can be carried into the present through the act of making. Her jewellery reflects a quiet dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary design, where material, form and the body meet.
Collection concept
This collection explores the relationship between traditional Chinese silversmithing and contemporary jewellery design. Drawing from historical motifs and silversmithing traditions, the pieces reinterpret elements of cultural memory through simplified structure and proportion. Working primarily with high-purity silver, the collection emphasises surface, weight and form, allowing material presence to shape each design. The work reflects an ongoing dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary design, where jewellery becomes a medium connecting tradition, material and the body.
