Designer biography:

Estela Williams is a Mexican jewelry designer based in Mexico City. Before turning to jewelry, she worked as an actor across Mexico, Canada, and England — a background that continues to shape her understanding of objects as performative, and alive. A graduate of the contemporary jewelry program at CENTRO, her work centers on masks, and protective objects inspired by Mexican religious iconography, Milagros, and esoteric symbolism. She works across a wide range of materials and techniques, from precious metals and natural stones to found and experimental materials. Her work has been presented at Zona Maco and is available through Bazar Sábado in Ciudad de México.

SANCTA REMEDIA:

“Life is a tough pill to swallow” — especially when you can’t find a cure for what’s happening to your body. When modern medicine offers no answer to why my body feels this way, I turn to the spiritual tradition of Milagros. In this collection, I’ve created my own saint: Saint Estela of the Pills. Drawing from the inspiration of Milagros as amulets and offerings for divine intervention, I crafted these objects both as tribute and plea — seeking health relief from chronic pain and the miracle of simply living. By transforming myself into a saint, I reclaim agency in a body that often feels beyond my control.
