Designer biography:

Daisy makes Jewellery with a worn & layered feel. She incorporates poems, collage, colour, engraving, motifs & texture into pieces for visually dense, colour rich Jewellery in soft, organic, misaligned shapes. She has sold & exhibited extensively over two decades, taking part in projects & exhibitions with Falmouth University, Nesta, The Museum & Libraries Archives, The Royal Academy of Art, Creative Kernow, Craft Festival, Leach Potteries, Hidden Art Curated, ACJ Cornwall, The Guild of 10 & more. She works from a studio in Hayle, Cornwall & with its vast windswept beaches, industrial & maritime background, eroded by time & the wind, influence the way she thinks & makes.

Collection concept:

These pieces are part of a collection anchored in the submerged ancient landmass of Doggerland that touches on the themes of myth making, mapping, shadowy outlines, the layering of our histories, as well as our cultural preoccupation with lost worlds under the Sea. ’Sirens’ is engraved with antique illustrations of beclawed women with various fish tails, fishlegs & wings. The sirens are tough, needed & reviled for their strength, inhabiting a world both under & over the waves. ‘Sonar’ references the outlines of the lost North Sea, land emerging via fishing boats pulling up artefacts from the seabed. ‘Sorrowing’ uses tiny collages, attempts to map & name the land & sea, cast in the shapes of stones with a flower & a Bee. By using Brass and Bronze the aim is for them to continue to darken, bloom & deepen with time.
