Designer biography:

Originally from the UK, Asimi started making jewellery in Athens 30yrs ago, then continued at London Guildhall University where she completed a diploma in Gemmology. After study periods in Africa she returned to Greece in 2004 where her immersion in nature has infiltrated her work alongside unconventional materials into textured, three dimensional silver & gold pieces. She is also known for her protest jewellery documenting world issues & exhibits extensively across Europe including Munich, Rome, Milan & Romanian Jewellery Weeks, Poland, Hungary and in various galleries. She continues to make experimental as well as classical pieces at her studio in remote Southern Greece.

Collection concept:

“The Darkness” series is a response to the tragic world events we are witnessing daily. Darkness here is not absence, but a pull; gathering attention & holding it. Diverging from the language of brilliance & rarity, it draws instead on a dark, unexpected, non-precious material that absorbs rather than reflects, is fragile but quietly charged. Made from sun-scorched seaweed found on the Skeleton Coast in Namibia, each necklace evokes a feeling of tension, protection, resilience in its own way. When found, some pieces appeared like microscopic castles in the sand, others like petrified sea creatures, indestructible despite the extremes they had weathered. Repurposed with minimal silver functional additions, their value is questionable, their beauty subjective, but their endurance undeniable.
