Asimi Jewellery - Greece
Asimi Jewellery
Designer biography:
Originally from the UK, Asimi started making jewellery in Athens 30 years ago, then continued at London Guildhall University where she also completed a diploma in Gemmology. Over the years she spent several study periods in Africa. Since returning to Greece in 2004, her immersion in nature has infiltrated her work, incorporating unconventional materials into her textured, three dimensional silver & gold pieces. More recently she has become known for her protest jewellery documenting world issues. She has exhibited extensively across Europe including Munich, Rome & Milan Jewellery Weeks, Hungary’s Inflow Expo & in the UK, & continues to make experimental pieces at her studio in South Greece.
Collection concept:
Taking a break from protest jewellery, “The Secrets of my Garden” collection is the result of Asimi’s conscious retreat into the refuge of her Mediterranean garden: a safe place where emotions and contradictions can be explored in solitude & expressed through creativity. She draws inspiration from nature’s textures and shapes that abound within adversity: the ridges, secret hollows, spikiness, smoothness & softness emulate the complexity of our inner spiritual worlds. She manifests this using the bold manipulation of molten metal, and her combination of precious materials with soft wool and cotton petals is a nod to the coexistence and indeed symbiosis of fragility and resilience.
