Joanna Muzyka
Designer biography:
Joanna Muzyka is a Polish artist specializing in lampwork and contemporary jewelry design. A graduate of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław (MA, 2019), she fuses traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. Her practice reflects a deep respect for materiality, light, and the transformative power of fire. Recognized for her excellence, she received the Industrial Design Institute’s 2023 Award for the "Lumea" collection. By exploring the interplay of transparency and texture, Joanna creates evocative pieces that blur the lines between fine art and personal adornment. Her work has been exhibited across Europe and the USA.
Collection concept:
The "Summer" series draws from the botanical world, using the patterns of flowers and thorns to mirror the human body’s capacity for fragility and endurance. Working in borosilicate glass, I explore a central paradox: a material inherently delicate, yet forged into resilience. These objects serve as "talismanic armor", a gesture of restoration. A key piece, the glass knuckle-duster, reframes a symbol of aggression into one of defense and healing. It transforms trauma into a quiet statement of inner power. This collection is a personal record of memory, shaping a "language of healing" through the touch of glass and the desire to find strength in our most vulnerable places.
