Designer biography:
Amàlgama Jewels is founded by Giorgia Tasca, an Italian-American designer and artist that lives and works in Vicenza, Italy. She graduated in fashion design at IUAV University of Venice and after several years consulting as a multi-disciplinary designer and trend forecaster she felt the need to give life to something of her own, an expression that had neither boundaries nor compromises. This is how Amàlgama Jewels was born. Amàlgama is a blend, a fusion, a mixture and in alchemy it’s a term that specifically refers to metal. Amàlgama Jewels is about creating rigor and disrupting it with gut feeling, about translating a stream of consciousness, a sensation into matter. This philosophy is embodied in all Giorgia’s jewels that are hand carved and created with lost wax casting, therefore unique and non-repeatable. Each Amàlgama jewel is characterized by an aesthetic register that is organic, tactile and bold.
Collection concept:
Time does not unfold in straight lines. It settles into surfaces, into objects, into bodies, layering itself like dust over what has been. Memory rises from that accumulation, never fixed, never complete. It feels like trying to grasp something that slips just out of reach, a place you sense you have been but cannot be sure is real. In the creations of Amalgama Jewels, designed by Giorgia Tasca, that sensation takes form. Each piece holds a fragment of time, a trace of memory caught or lost in material, tangible yet elusive. Sometimes, memory arrives with awareness. We feel it thinning, its contours fading. Faces, promises, gestures we thought permanent become fragile. So we reach for stability. We label, we preserve. Objects transform into anchors, capable of holding fragments without explaining them. In other moments, memory fractures more subtly. Loss is partial, imperceptible. Some traces remain, others vanish. A gesture is recalled, a word half-remembered, a story fragmentary. The past surfaces unevenly, veiled in absence. What remains is never complete, layered instead, delicate and mutable. Memory also moves through inheritance. Some recollections reach us through objects that have already crossed generations. They carry traces of gestures, promises, moments that once belonged to others. In Giorgia Tasca’s work, these layers are honored: each jewel is a palimpsest of experience, accumulating meaning over time. Time behaves like matter, and memory is the surface on which it leaves its traces. It gathers quietly, forms thresholds between what can be recalled and what is already fading. There is no final account, only the ongoing sediment of what persists, fragile yet insistent. Remembering is not nostalgia. In the jewels of Amalgama, it is the delicate art of negotiating with time, of holding the elusive in a form that endures.
