Siobhán McArdle
Designer biography:
Siobhán McArdle is a contemporary jewellery artist—designer and goldsmith—who considers her work an extension of herself and how she views the world. She draws inspiration from the emotional richness of human experience and the beauty found in art, architecture, and the natural world. Her pieces delve into universal themes of connection, transformation, and the interplay between light and shadow. Her process is deeply personal, reflecting an ongoing exploration of the psyche and the creative flow. A strong affinity for wax carving led her to Rome, where she trained in specialised techniques using soft wax. This opened new dimensions in her practice, allowing her to hand-sculpt delicate, sculptural forms. Her style continues to evolve, shaped by a commitment to learning and artistic growth.
Collection concept:
‘Embrace’ inspired by the word "embedo," explores the forgotten link between the self and nature. It reflects the fragile, often daunting realization that life’s transience is ever-present. Through the fusion of geometric and organic forms, I merge my past work with a new perspective, creating pieces that speak to both structure and fluidity. I’m experimenting with the use of glass, an object that I admire for its perceived fragility yet surprising durability. The collection invites us to reconnect with nature, embracing its wisdom and our shared vulnerability. A reminder to us that nature holds the answers if we learn to slow down and listen.
