Designer biography:
Raised in her family's workshop Mariagiulia Trento has approached goldsmithery from an early age, soon choosing wax carving as her primary media of expression. Novitas is a latin term that roughly translates with “oddity” and that indicates all that is new, peculiar and strange. This collection opens a window on the author's mind and passions, with intricate and sculptured pieces that take inspiration from literature, folklore, all Arts and nature with a dash of humor and quirkiness.
Collection concept:
Lover's eyes, posies rings, lockets, the tradition of sentimental trinkets goes back practically since the invention of jewellery itself, and the most traditional jewellery gifts follow the happiest and most cherished events and moments in a person's life. But what of the other moments, what of the hopelessness, the scorn, the hate, the indifference? Those are important human emotions too and part of everyone's life, maybe not always to be celebrated, but surely recognized. These pieces subverts the traditional love token, creating tongue in cheek pieces dedicated to all the unromantic and unfriendly people, for the ones who always scowl, the ones who have been told to smile one time too many.
