There is a particular kind of artist who never changes discipline; only medium. Everything they make is the same argument, restated in whatever material is currently closest to the truth they are trying to hold. Gheorghe Iosif, working under the aliases dyslex, [ d s l x ] or gH. is that kind of artist. The work has moved through graphic design, experimental sound, intermedia installations, multimedia and performance but now it has arrived at metal and stone. The argument has not changed. Only the weight of it has. Gheorghe originates out of Arad, Romania; a city in the western Transylvanian region that carries its own compressed history of empire, erasure, and reinvention. He worked professionally as an art director, from advertising to immersive show productions, roles that trained his eye for the relationship between symbol and authority, between visual grammar and the power structures that grammar either serves or quietly dismantles. That tension has been the engine of his practice across every medium he has worked in. Disungodded is where all of it lands. In metal. In weight. Worn on the body. Carried into every room.

There is a hierarchy built into beauty and it is older than memory. The ruby, the sapphire, the emerald, the diamond; the four stones that decided, across centuries of unquestioned repetition, what devotion looks like, what power looks like, what a body becomes when it wears the right thing. They catch all remaining light after any collapse and throw it back at people to make them kneel. And people always kneel. Disungodded is the full arc of what happens when that arrangement is refused; from before the argument existed to the moment the argument is no longer necessary. The collection moves from before-time to the present in a single arc. The disungodding always feels longer than expected. It always does, when something real comes down.
