Designer biography:
David Sandu is the first Romanian artist who made contemporary jewelry his main field of interest and expression. David Sandu participated in numerous exhibitions as an individual artist, gaining International recognition, and in 2010 he was appointed Supplier of the Royal House of Romania. In the same year, he founded the first private educational platform in Romania dedicated exclusively to jewelry design – Assamblage Contemporary Jewelry School. In 2020, he became a Founding Member and Curator of the international event Romania Jewelry Week, the largest event in Romania dedicated to the jewelry field.
Collection concept:
We contain within ourselves the capacity to create order and to give meaning. The “Axis Invisibilis” collection explores the relationship between fragment and whole, between the rigor of geometry and the instability of perception. The jewellery is constructed from discontinuous elements, yet organized around an evident symmetry. The unity of the pieces lies not exclusively in their structure, but is formed first and foremost in the viewer’s mind, who reassembles the fragments and restores the visual connection between the forms. The collection thus proposes a double paradox: the classical vocabulary of geometry persists within a deeply contemporary expression — and vice versa — while the whole exists more as a perceptual experience than as a material reality. The circle, interrupted and fragmented, remains nevertheless recognizable. Its axis is invisible, yet it orders the form and gives it coherence.
