Collective biography:

After its debut at the Internationale Handwerkmesse in Munich and its showcase in Warsaw, Unnecessary Jewellery continues its journey to Romania as part of the official programme of Romanian Jewelry Week 2025.

The exhibition, curated by Professor Sławomir Fijałkowski and Arek Wolski, presents the works of 19 artists from Poland, Japan, Finland, Norway, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia and Germany. It explores how contemporary jewellery responds to cultural, technological and social shifts. The artists employ both time-honoured and cutting-edge techniques: from cloisonné enamel and traditional goldsmithing to 3D printing, scar-scan brooches and miniature reinterpretations of icons of modernist design.

The exhibition challenges the perception of jewellery as mere decoration. It proposes jewellery as an autonomous art medium that merges the intimacy of the body with the symbolic power of form.

Collection concept:

Technology has just provided us with plenty of great tools, along with a mind that offers ready-made visions and designs. It’s incredibly fascinating whether the human-creator will use this support to leap forward and grow, or whether the opposite will happen, turning creator into a lazy consumer.

The near future may hold surprises, but that’s tomorrow! Today, let’s celebrate the works of people of flesh and blood. Ladies and gentlemen, here are 14 artists and their works!
