OMAYA Jewellery - Bulgaria
OMAYA Jewellery
Designer biography:
I graduated from The National Academy of Theater and Film Art in Sofia in 2011, but always have been in love with jewelry. I started my jewellery brand OMAYA as a side project during my motherhood period. Jewellery making overtook my life slowly and seamlessly and in 12 years from hobby it became my major profession. As an animation director by education, I can relate my perception of jewellery to short films. I love telling stories with them and often imagine the characters they are created for. In my contemporary jewelry art work, I find a concise and independent way to communicate my ideas to the audience. I like to explore the mind's ability to connect and express emotions through shapes, colors and materials. I am curious and constantly experimenting with techniques and mediums. Nature is my endless inspiration and my reverence and admiration for it is deeply rooted into my work on all levels.
Collection concept: GARDEN OF TEMPTATIONS
Desires are the driving force in our lives, the motive for development, but the constant longing for pleasure is also our greatest enemy. Our world has always been a garden of temptations. Nowadays, more than ever they are close and affordable, just a click away. They bloom around like beautiful flowers, juicy like a passion fruit, tempting and appealing…but many of them hide poisonous thorns. Does our existence become an aimless over-consumption? Is it our desires or well-constructed marketing? What are we leaving behind? What defines our values today, and our understanding of beauty. This collection doesn't provide answers, it just asks questions with randomly broken discarded glass, found objects, natural materials and stones, bound together in objects of beauty, they embody the artist's sense of desire.
