Designer biography:
Anca Nanau attended the specialization courses of the Assamblage Art and Design Institute. She chose the creation of jewelry as a form of artistic expression because she considers them „an extension of any woman’s personality.” The Meltinjewels brand is a contemporary jewelry brand, created by Anca Nanau in 2021, in Bucharest from her passion for unique jewelry but also from her need for the artistic expression of her own feelings and experiences, for the interpretation of the diverse world of which we live.
Collection concept: - Cherry blossom flower- symbolizing fragility and resilience
In a creative context such as this one flowers become powerful symbols such as: transformation, fragility and resilience, beauty in imperfection, the passage of time. The theme that inspired me most is the flower seen as fragility and resilience. A wilting or broken flower can evoke the idea of vulnerability, while a flower growing through a crack in concrete could symbolize strength in adversity or hope emerging from hardship. A perfect flower that symbolizes both fragility and resilience is the cherry blossom. Cherry blossoms are delicate, short-lived flowers that bloom brilliantly and then fall away within days. Their beauty is soft and fleeting, capturing the fragile nature of life, yet they return every spring, year after year, symbolizing resilience, renewal, and the quiet strength found in cycles of change. In Japanese culture, they are deeply tied to the concept of mono no aware—the bittersweet awareness of life’s impermanence. I have created my collection from petals ,bloomed flowers, and whole flowers. I have played more with petals which show vulnerability, easily bruised or blown away, yet essential to the flower’s beauty. For this collection I have chosen to work in silver and pearls.
