Designer biography:

Adelina Petcan, (b.1994, Bucharest, RO) lives and works in Bucharest. In her practice she deals with jewellery as visual communication and seeks to address the problematics of private and public when it comes to bodily adornment in the social sphere. In 2019 she completed her Masters Degree from Konstfack University of Crafts, Art and Design in Jewellery in Stockholm, Sweden. HUMAN APJ was founded in 2015, a jewellery brand for everyday wear and as a platform for different topics to be discussed  with a focus on different making processes.

Collection concept:

HUMAN TYPE is a sculptural collection of twenty-six pendants, each one representing a letter of the alphabet reimagined as wearable forms. This alphabet isn’t just typographic, it’s human. Staying true to HUMAN APJ’s focus of exploring human connection, memory, and material transformation, this series translates a custom-designed typeface, developed in collaboration with a graphic designer, into three-dimensional, tactile jewellery. Each character has been sculpted in sterling silver using our signature organic aesthetic and set with a single, lab-grown diamond as a precious accent. The result is a fluid synthesis of language, form, and meaning. By turning a font into form, HUMAN TYPE explores identity in its most elemental expression: the letters that spell our names, shape our stories, and form the basis of all human communication. The project bridges digital and analogue processes, typography and jewellery, design and emotion. It continues HUMAN APJ’s ongoing inquiry into how we embody meaning and how the objects we wear can connect us to ourselves and to others.
