Biography:

Lauriane Sémat began her career as a visual artist. It is through drawing and painting that she explores the female body and its issues in contemporary society. In 2011, she then reflected on other mediums to pursue this exploration. The idea of sculpture is not foreign to her, the jewel then becomes a means of working directly on the body.

Then begins an exploration of the material, the challenge being to find a light and durable material. In 2012, the first jewels finally came out of the workshop. His work is access around aluminum and silver. Its collections are made up of refined forms, subtle balance and open references to the history of art, contemporary art and architecture. She defines her jewels as small sculptures to be worn on a daily basis.

Collection Concept:

The exploration around the female body plunged me into an unlimited curiosity around primary forms, but also gave me the desire to explore other registers. It is therefore an evolving and constantly renewed work. All of my collections are imagined as small sculptures to be worn on a daily basis. The use of aluminum makes it possible to create extremely light and durable jewelry. Everything is played around balance and refinement, sometimes using the most basic forms of our daily life, not without humor. I am currently working on mini-series of jewelry, such as the "standing in the kitchen" series which takes up the very common theme of the meal or even the animal caricatures of the brooches "the bugs"

I work around a jewel that I wish to be singular and recognizable in its craftsmanship.

All of my pieces are entirely handcrafted in aluminum and 925 silver.
