Les Brucelles

Les Brucelles asbl is a non-profit association, created in 2021 to organise the first Brussels Jewellery Week, which took place in spring 2022. With a major exhibition at MAD, “In Fieri”, as well as “Be.Next” for Belgian contemporary schools and a Tour in Brussels galleries and workshop, it was the first important event ever dedicated to contemporary jewellery in Belgium.

Les Brucelles asbl’s aim is to organise such international events as well as to promote Belgian artists in contemporary jewellery, in Belgium and abroad. We are also dedicated to making this particular expression more comprehensible and interesting for the largest public. All members are living, creating and working in Belgium. From different backgrounds and nationalities, we all have the same goal: enjoying our work and hoping to inspire joy, interest and curiosity for others.

Collective of designers

Black versus white: do we have to choose? Dark memories versus white oblivion. Deep into our soul versus radiating around our skin. We are continually oscillating from obscurity to light, every day and night, nowadays tampered by artificial light. Did we bury deep into ourselves the ancient fears and beliefs, at least we thought we did, and what can be done when they are coming back on the surface? Let’s link the past to the present: prehistoric flints, periods that were both raw and melancholic, combinations of softness and darkness, motherhood and brutality, roundness and pain, back and forth between childhood and so-called “maturity”. With the best of our abilities as creators, we attempt to embrace and express the complexity of this duality, starting from pure and rigorous lines to more intricate elements, with honesty and sobriety.
