Biography:

Natasa Koutsampela is an eminent attorney at law as well as a passionate, designer & creator of jewelry and painter that lives and works in the town of Larissa, (central Greece).  In 2011 she began to deal and experiment with the design and manufacture of jewelry as a kind of creative expression.  In 2018, with her partner, Marianthi Katsika, they founded “LEFFLOW ART STUDIO” [Left (her left hand that creates) and the flow (the perpetual flow of creation) as a way of expressing it], where they work, move forward, express themselves and promote their work within the country and abroad.

Also since 2018 she is a member of platform “A Jewel Made In Greece” based in Athens, that promotes the contemporary Greek designer and their work around the world.  She creates jewelry from silver, bronze, gold and upcycled materials, acrylic colors and enamel.  For her every action is interwoven with the meaning, the deeper content and the time management that we have as living beings. With every collection of jewelry, try to approach and attribute the meaning of time through our actions, such as motion-inertia, evolution, human contact, contact with nature and the primordial instinct of preservation and survival.  Awarded (2nd prize), category Solid Metals, 2018 @A Jewel Made In Greece competition.

Collection Concept:

“Kelyfos” - A new in-process collection

We are born in a protected shell of the uterus. We experience the drama of the exit from the protected environment of the uterine cavity, seeking protection in a lively thread that feeds us. It is our invisible or visible thread that connects us to life. They are the mother, the father, the friends, the community, the integration, the love, the reproduction, the perpetuation of the species, the art, the contact with nature, the acceptance and so much more. thread that connects us to life.

Upcycle collection

The philosophy of the upcycle collection is that we can be self-sufficient. The idea and the creation began in March 2020 when the restriction due to covid-19, made me experiment with materials that we had in our home. So there are already many manufactured products that we can use instead of disposing of in our environment. We reduce the waste by using materials that their life cycle is over. We turn the packaging of our mobile phones into unique jewelry. To create this jewelry we used paper from mobile phone packaging, acrylic paints, metal alloy wire and sterling silver 925 chain.

Panspermia collection

The inspiration for this collection was the ¨wheat¨. I designed this collection for my participation in the exhibition "Fruits and Symbols" as a visual conversation between prominent examples of ancient coinage and contemporary jewelry by Greek and foreign artists at the Athens Monetary Museum. Nature, the labor of the earth and the fruit production are concepts inherent in the instinct of survival, and this is what I am dealing with. The wheat represents for me an ancient fruit / symbol of human survival, which in the Greek tradition of my homeland was connected with the great feast of “Theros”, the ritual and the customs of the harvest.

Antikythera collection

Ι inspired by the extraordinary ancient Antikythera mechanism to create this collection.

The gears are for me a beloved world of inspiration and I play with the challenge of recreating them in new forms that may resemble or not with flowers, crowns, wings, etc. The gears actually transmit motion and in the world of the symbols we are equating with the movement of our lives within space-time, our creation and evolution. They represent artistically the ever-evolving flow of humanity.
