Designer biography:

Aleksandra Atanasovski graduated in painting from the Accademia di belle arti di Brera in Milan in 1993 after graduating from the Secondary School of Design. In 1994 she went to India where she studied Tibetan Buddhism and learned about Tibetan ritual Thanka painting. She returned to Slovenia in 2001, worked as a graphic designer throughout her post-graduation, and in 2003 was employed as a designer at Fructal in Ajdovščina. From 2008 to 2010 she designed the local newspaper Prepih. Since 2006, after a long break, she has been designing jewelry, again. In contemporary art jewelry she has found her own medium, space and expression. She sees jewelry as a communication object through which she expresses ideas about society, the individual and about raising awareness of various phenomena. She strives to make this industry flourish and become recognised in Slovenia, as it is elsewhere in the world.

Collection concept:

This collection was inspired by the album of a Slovenian Music group All Strings Detached.

Pain, this unwished emotion, can multiply to unimaginable dimensions. But it can also  mutate to something precious, and this can be called a pearl. The collection is a poetic expression of this mutation. Elements and materials: Imprint of human skin, silver, pearls ( Tahiti pearl, akoya pearl, freshwater pearl)
