Collection concept

Is a piece of jewelry a small sculpture? No! Jewelry is not simply a miniature sculpture because its primary condition is wearability and its relationship to the body. Even when it pushes practical limits, it is still conceived to be worn, which distinguishes it from autonomous sculpture. However, jewelry can be highly sculptural in form, material, and conceptual intent. When a piece is not worn and is displayed, it may be perceived like a sculpture, yet its identity remains tied to its wearable origin. Rather than becoming sculpture, it functions as a wearable object with sculptural qualities, existing in a tension between bodily use and independent visual contemplation.
