Arina Nițulescu

Designer biography:

I hold a degree in Mathematics from the West University of Timisoara and a degree in Architecture from the ”Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest. I continued my academic journey with a master in ”The Anthropology of Sacred Space”, followed by a PhD in the History of Architecture. During my postgraduate studies, I was actively involved in the restoration of historical monuments. From 2011 to 2019, I attended various courses, coordinated by David Sandu at ”Assamblage - Contemporary Jewellery School” and I participated in several group exhibitions. In 2022, I completed a specialization course in Curatorship at the National Institute for Cultural Research and Training. Since then, I have occasionally curated exhibitions of graphic art, painting and sculpture, alongside my ongoing work in architectural restoration.

Collection concept: GARDENS IN THE LABORATORY

At a time when nature is often seen through glass – from windows to screens, this collection proposes an intrusion, not into living, wild nature, but into a nature recreated by humans in their own "image and likeness". "Gardens in the Laboratory" is a reflection on fragility and control. Here plants and insects do not grow under the sun, but under algorithms, in cold lights beside glowing computers. Their roots do not touch the ground, but float under laboratory glass, suspended in silent nutrients, somewhere between life and observation. A sterile but living garden, carefully raised by human hands. Life is preserved as in archives – ordered and measured. The collection becomes a metaphor for both hope and control, for isolation and rebirth in the context of an increasingly technologized world.
