CARMEL BOERNER
Biography:
Carmel Boerner lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada on the unceded homelands of the Coast Salish peoples. She graduated from Vancouver Community College’s Jewellery Art and Design Program in 2017. She has worked for almost 30 years in various non-profits in Canada and the U.S. Working primarily in silver, Carmel often uses non-traditional materials. The presence of the maker is important and is intentionally made visible through marks of fabrication. Her work is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic wabi-sabi, which celebrates beauty that is imperfect and transient.
